Technology affairs Department of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU) governs technology affairs and transfer of the university. At the moment, SBMU has 6 incubators, 1 innovation center, 105 science-based companies and start-ups, 1 industrial parks and 1 accelerator. These are supported by consultancy, place, equipment, clean rooms and a fully-equipped general research and development laboratories complex. SBMU holds about 200 national and international patents and is one of the pioneers in moving towards third-generation universities in the country. SBMU collaborates well with technology and engineering universities and different companies. Throughout 2017 and 2018 evaluations and rankings of Iranian Medical Sciences Universities and Institutes by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, in terms of technology affairs and technology transfer, SBMU won the second place among nearly 60 universities and institutes. Accordingly, SBMU was awarded in Razi Research and Technology Festival, which is the highest medical sciences festival in the country. In 2019, SBMU promoted to the 1st place and was again awarded in Razi Research and Technology Festival. Evaluation criteria included national and international patents, products and achievements of technology and science-based products, sales of products, technological projects, facilities and support for technologists, financial supports of start-ups through loaning and VCs, participation in national and international festivals and prizes won by technologists, growth in the activities related to production, sales and export, facilities such as clean rooms, holding of technological workshops etc. Undoubtedly, such great achievements indicate the right movement of the university in order to turn the idea of academics into products and moving towards third and fourth generation universities. The Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology of the University congratulates all the esteemed colleagues, dear students, faculty members and esteemed technologists on this success and hopes that the role of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in entrepreneurship and regional and national technology corridor.
